Appointment Policies

East Elm Pediatrics sees patients by appointment only, except in cases of emergency. Our staff are available during office hours and will work with you to schedule any appointments your child may need. We do our best to schedule your child’s appointments with the provider of your choice, on a day and at a time that is convenient for you and your family.

We have extended hours during the week, as well as available weekend appointments.

Some appointments may require more time than would ordinarily be allotted. If you have any additional questions or concerns you would like to discuss, please let a member of our staff know when you call to schedule an appointment. Topics may include chronic problems or disabilities including ADHD, asthma, behavioral concerns, etc. These types of appointments are usually scheduled at the end of the providers’ day to provide you and your family with enough time to address your child’s concerns.
Sometimes medical emergencies can unavoidably impact the providers' schedule. We ask you to be patient during these times. If such an emergency occurs, we will inform you as soon as possible to discuss your options.

Cancellations, No-Shows, and Tardiness

If you are unable to keep an appointment, please contact our office as soon as possible to cancel. This gives us the opportunity to utilize all available time wisely. If you repeatedly fail to keep appointments without prior notice, we may dismiss your family from the practice.

Two days prior to existing appointments, our office will call you to confirm your appointment. If we have to leave a voicemail, we may ask you to call back and verbally confirm that you received our message. Failure to verbally confirm these appointments may cause your appointment to be canceled. 

If you are going to be late for an appointment, please call our office so we can reschedule, if necessary. Patient punctuality helps our providers stay on schedule while continuing to provide the quality care your child deserves. If you are more than ten minutes late for well-care visits or follow-up appointments, we reserve the right to cancel and reschedule your appointment.

    East Elm Pediatrics holds monthly staff meetings on the first Wednesday of every month. On these Wednesdays, our office will remain open until 8:00 pm, but from 5:00 - 7:00 pm we will only see Walk-In/Urgent Care patients.
